Historical Background

It all started one day when a little boy went to farm with his father who is a cocoa farmer. The child had observed that even though his father is a cocoa farmer, he has never tasted cocoa before. He then asked his father what he gains from the cocoa plantation since he has never eaten some of the cocoa before, his father answered by telling him that “he is able to pay his school fees through the cocoa farming”. So in his quest to find other answers and knowledge about cocoa, he told his father to tell him more about cocoa which he did.

As time passed, he grew up but still did not get enough knowledge about cocoa. He travelled to Europe, Switzerland to be precise. Over there, he realised that, the sweetest chocolate he had been consuming all the time was made from cocoa which was exported from Ghana his motherland.

Since he had a dream or vision of making extraordinary things out of cocoa, destiny brought him and a Swiss businessman who also shared the same dreams and passion together.

Upon regular and periodic interactions and deliberations with him, he found out that Africa is his place of target to help him delve deeper into the cocoa business but however never knew of any particular place to acquire that until he finally met with Mr Barfi.

This brought in his curious Swiss business destined friend to come with him to Ghana where we have the best cocoa in order to have their curiosity solved. In quest for the realization of this wonderful dream, about 20-acre land is secured for cocoa plantation in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. This led to the manifestation of Hans Nef Cocoa Limited to trade in cocoa purchasing and exportation of confectionary goods. The name of the company was named after his Swiss destined friend and business mogul called Hans Carl Nef as a motivation, acknowledgement and honour for the actualization of his wonderful vision and dreams.

Hans Nef Cocoa Ltd acquired its provisional license from Chana Cocoa Board as a Licensed Buying Company in August 2018 and obtained its final license in November 2018 having passed through all the necessary procedures and requirement of COCOBOD and QCC of Cocoa Marketing Company (C.M.C) certified Hans Nef Cocoa Ltd that it qualifies to engage in the Internal Marketing of Cocoa in Ghana
